Obedience Class Structure

obedience structure

Obedience classes are divided into two levels - Junior classes and Senior classes. Our Junior classes teach you all the skills you need to know for successful dog training, and gets your dog to the point where it is a good companion and pet for the whole family. After completing our Advanced class you can get a certificate from the Club that states that your dog is obedience trained, and the ACT Government will recognise this and give a reduction in dog registration fees; you will also have gained the appropriate level of control of your dog to participate in Agility and Flyball,

Our Kindi class is for dogs younger than 6 months of age - although having a core of obedience training, this class also has some puppy specific content that helps pups and their handlers learn about each other. Beginners A is designed for people and dogs training for the first time, while Beginners B is a continuation for handlers/dogs who have progressed from our Kindi classes (and therefore has some understanding of our training methodology and principles).

Our Senior classes extend the training already done and prepares both the handler and dog for more advanced obedience work. You can choose to compete in Obedience Trialling and attempt to gain Titles for your dog, or you can enter our fun Companion stream where you can continue advanced training without the pressure of official trials ... and you can swap between these two options if you feel the need for a change.
