The CDC has 9 acres of fenced land available for use by club members. The Back Paddock is the only full-time free run area on the Club grounds. The Bore, Flyball and Narrabundah Paddocks are also often used by members (especially at night due to the lack of lighting in the Back Paddock) and this is fine so long as no classes are being conducted there at the time. Training takes priority over exercising, so please vacate these 3 Paddocks during class times

Free Running

The Back Paddock is available for all members to exercise their dogs and let them interact with other dogs and people. The Bore Paddock, Flyball Paddock and Narrabundah paddocks are available to exercise your dogs when there are no classes or other official club activities requiring the use of those paddocks. However, running free doesn't mean out-of-control ... for the safety and enjoyment of others, please keep a close eye on your dogs at all times and ensure that they are behaving in an appropriate manner. This includes over energetic or boisterous dogs that (no matter their playful intentions) may accidentally cause hurt or injury - this applies equally to large and small dogs and every size in between.

Also, please use common-sense when using toys and/or balls in a free run area. If your dog loves to chase and fetch a ball, then you can guarantee that others will too. This often leads to incidents of possessiveness and/or jealousy, so please consider the other dogs in the paddock before playing with fun toys. Also please note that commandeering a far corner of the paddock for yourself and your dog is not appropriate as all dogs are entitled to roam the entire free run areas.

When using any paddock for free running, please move at least 10 metres from the gate and call your dog away from the gate. If you hang around the gate it makes it very difficult for others to get in or out with their dogs on lead.

If other dogs are already free running in any paddock, check with their handlers before you and your dog enter the paddock in order to prevent any unfortunate incidents.

For more information on our free run paddocks check out the Off-Lead Exercise Areas pamphlet.

Scoop the Poop

As a matter of courtesy to others, and in the interests of hygiene, you must clean up after your dog. This applies to all areas of the Club grounds (including the Back Paddock) - bins, shovels and bio-degradable plastic bags are provided throughout the grounds. Please ensure that the plastic bin liners are properly in place and that you deposit your dog's waste carefully. Alternatively, you can be prepared wherever you go by arming yourself with a small plastic bag or two. Simply put your hand inside the bag, scoop up the offending pile, reverse your hand out of the bag, and tie the neck of the bag. Then dispose of thoughtfully! Remember it is ACT law to clean up after your dog in all public places.

Clubhouse

Club members are welcome to use the clubhouse on training and competition days, so come in and have a chat with other members. The Club shop sells hot and cold drinks, ice creams, sweets, sandwiches and other snacks.

The shop also sells items which will help you in the training and care of your dog. These include a wide range of leads and collars, dog toys, worming tablets and books on training dogs. Club T-shirts, Obedience Trial rule books and trial/show entry forms are also available.

Parking

The asphalted area directly in front of the clubhouse is reserved for instructor and disabled parking ... our instructors are all volunteers and this is one of the privileges we extend to them. Parking for general members is provided at the front of the Club on Narrabundah Lane.
