Growing Kids Welcome to the Growing Kids Program

In 2003, retired teacher and CDC instructor Maisie Griffiths ran an innovative education program which sees a baby, a puppy, community members, teachers and students participate in an engaging classroom experience that encourages positive community interaction in a simple yet effective way.

Called "GROWING KIDS" this unique collaboration helps young people learn about themselves, other people and values such as empathy, self control, respect for others, kindness, tolerance and fairness to all living things.

It's a personal, emotional and social development program that has already seen significant results at Torrens and Weston Creek primary schools.

The ACT Companion Dog Club is proud to support GROWING KIDS by hosting this online information resource so dog owners, parents, students, teachers and sponsors can find out more about this initiative. The program supports the positive teaching techniques which the CDC promotes, and highlights some of the many benefits canine companions can bring to our community.
